How the estimate works
How we calculate the estimate
Room measurements determine the quantity. Published prices, local service rates, and clearly labeled assumptions determine the range.

Roll planning
Room dimensions are matched to feasible cut plans for standard roll widths. Because broadloom is sold by fixed width and cut length, the quantity ordered can exceed the floor area. When roll width is known, the cut plan determines the order quantity; a generic allowance is used only when width is unavailable.
Sources and estimates
Published prices and specifications, calculated amounts, and service estimates are kept separate. Evidence grades identify the source behind each figure. Forecast accuracy can be measured only after written quotes and final invoices arrive. Low, midpoint, and high mark budget boundaries; they are not statistical confidence intervals.
Quote comparison
The checker compares a quote after every required line item is confirmed. Missing work stays unpriced. The result locates a comparable total within the range. Assessing contractor fairness remains outside its scope.
Results and version history
Each market model carries a date and is frozen before its estimates are compared with written quotes and final invoices. Any recalculation receives a new version, preserving the earlier result.
